G is for Girly

I'm continuing to blog the alphabet and today is the letter G.  G is for Girly.

We'll start off with one of my one of my necklaces.  It's girly because it's so pretty!

This is another necklace that I made and it's pretty, too.  This one is girly because it's pretty but also because it's off kilter.  You know a woman who is keeping the balance of the family, work, and home.  Everything is a little off kilter, but she keeps it aligned anyway...  and all while looking lovely.

Below you'll find items by other wonderful Etsy artists that are girly in their own ways.

It's girly to be proud of your spouse, your spouse's profession, and want to show your pride.  Just like the picture below, this shirt is for the gal who loves being a Fire Wife.  :)

It's girly to want nice, fragrant, flowery soaps.

And it's girly to want nice-smelling locks, too.

It's girly to be into makeup, especially vegan mineral makeup.

It's girly to be addicted to lip balm/gloss/stick, too.

It's girly to be an awesome sister.

and to not want children, too.

It's girly to be sporty.

It's also girly to be nerdy.

It's definitely girly to be a feminist.

F is for Family

Continuing through the alphabet for this blog series...

F is for Family.  Family is sometimes what you are born into and sometimes it is what you make...  and sometimes it's a little combination of both.  Below you'll find a collection of Etsy items that makes me think of family.

First, here's a necklace with a pendant that has a momma chicken and her baby chickie following behind her.

Here are family items by other Etsy artists...

So we've seen all kinds of family here and what's the main point to take away from this?  Whether you're a stormtrooper, robot, panda, deer, or gay; there's a family out there for you.  So, don't feel alone in this world because you're not.

Thank you for reading through my F entry.  Please post comments or suggestions for future listings in the comments section.  :)

E is for Equality

So, today's blog post is brought to you by the letter E.  E is for Equality!  Last week, New York legalized gay marriage and I couldn't be happier for those folks.  What is the great equalizer? Love.  In the spirit of equality and love, I've posted some wonderful Etsy finds below.

Here's a pair of earrings I made which will set the mood...

Here are some listings by other great artists on Etsy...

(BTW - I bought my wedding cake topper from this shop last year and it was beautiful!)

Well, I think that last one says it all.  E is for Equality, folks.  Thanks for reading and leave me a note in the comments section about this post or if you have an idea for the F post.  :)

Blogging the Alphabet - Here's the D!

Here's the D entry in the Bea Otch blog.  Enjoy!

When thinking of D items, I immediately thought of Dia de los Muertos.  Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is the day to remember friends and family who have passed away.  This day is celebrated on November 1 and 2 primarily in Mexico.  This holiday is known for its food, parties, and art.  Here are some great Etsy listings with this holiday theme....

Here's a pair of earrings that I made with the sugar skulls of Dia de los Muertos as inspiration...

Here are some listings from some other great Etsy artists...

This has been a fun trip through art inspired by Dia de los Muertos. Stay tuned for my next blog post where we'll uncover a topic starting with the letter E.  Let  me know if you have any good E ideas in the comments section.  Thanks for reading!

Cerulean and Colorblocking

So here's the C entry on the Bea Otch blog...

One of my favorite words is CERULEAN and it is such a great color!
I love the scene in The Devil Wears Prada when Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep) explains the fashion industry to Andy (Anne Hathaway).  Miranda says, "You're wearing a sweater that was selected for you by the people in this room, from a pile of 'stuff'."

Here's the scene:

I like this color so much that I made a necklace using it.

Here are more Etsy sellers who like this color:

Here's another C word - Colorblocking.
Colorblocking is not new, but it is back with a bang this season.
Here's an example of colorblocking on a necklace I made:

Here are other Etsy sellers that display colorblocking:

Today was brought to you by the letter C!  What've we learned today?
We've learned to go with gusto to Cerulean and Colorblocking!!

Thanks for taking a moment to read.  Let me know your thoughts on these topics or what would make a good D blog post below in the comments section. Thanks!
