Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

It's a cold day here at the beginning of 2014.  So, I'm ringing in the new year with a hot cup of tea and a fuzzy sweater.  I have to admit that I'm in the South and it's not as cold you might be experiencing elsewhere. Regardless, I have gathered a pretty collection of Etsy artists' goods (a wintry mix, you might say) and have displayed them below.  Enjoy with your own cup of tea or maybe even a hot chocolate.

Thanks for taking a look at these artists' goodies and enjoying their work.  You can find me on Etsy, Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest...

I've been blogging through the alphabet and have arrived at the letter X.  I'm not inspired by the letter X right now, so I'll turn my attention to HALLOWEEN!  Today is Halloween, I have my costume picked out, purchased gross makeup and spray-on blood, and grabbed tons of candy for the trick-or-treaters.  It's going to be a great night.  Below you'll find some spooktacular great finds to put you in the mood for Halloween.

Banned Books Week

I stumbled across the American Library Association's (ALA's) Banned Books Week site.  It's this week, September 22-28, 2013!  According to the site, this is an event that "brings together the entire book community -- librarians, booksellers, publishers, journalists, teachers, and readers of all types -- in shared support of the freedom to seek and to express ideas, even those some consider unorthodox or unpopular."

This blog post is dedicated to all of those wonderful thoughts, words, ideas, expressions, themes, and feelings from books that are often banned or challenged.  I'm going to celebrate all of those wonderful things through my art and the art of others.  Below you'll find Etsy listings that are inspired by Banned Books week, a particular book, or reading in general.

Here's a listing from my Etsy shop that celebrates reading and a fabulous book that we've all probably read, "Alice in Wonderland".  This necklace was inspired by the book.

The rest of the listings in this blog post are from fellow Etsy artists, and they are soooooo talented!

This listing was inspired by a book that is often banned and challenged,Bradbury's "Farenheit 451".

Here's a listing to show off your pride in reading books that are often excluded or challenged!

I love these book earrings with the caution tape!

This bracelet is stamped with classics that have been banned and challenged.  Try to imagine a world without "Huckleberry Finn," "Carrie," "Clockwork Orange," "Lady Chatterly's Lover,"East of Eden," "Harry Potter," or "Wrinkle in Time."

This listing would be fun to hang in your home, particularly in a spot that you enjoy reading a good book.

Lastly, this listing is a great way to speak out about censorship without saying a word.

Here's a link to a list of banned and challenged classics.  It'll get you in the mood to pick up a banned book and exercise your freedom!

Thank you for reading my latest blog post.  You can also find me on Etsy, Facebook, and Twitter.

W is for Wordly

So here we are at the letter W.

W is for Worldly.  I am writing for the worldly woman...  sophisticated, well-traveled, aware of the whole world and yet just her tiny space in it.

Here are some of my Etsy listings that are Worldly:

The worldly gal is aware of her duty to take care of the Earth:

The worldly woman is not afraid to speak her mind:

The worldly woman also knows her assets and how to use 'em:

The wordly gal knows when to be a kitten and when to be a tigress:

Lastly, I feel that a worldly woman can be bold....like wearing bold colors:

Here are some other items on Etsy for worldly folks...
